Overview[ | ]

The invasion of North Africa was a colossal effort of combined operations and planning between the Allied forces, and it is a great test for American ground troops in Axis-held territory. Code named Operation Torch, the landings in Algeria and French Morocco began in November 1942. In the following months, Allied forces advanced east into Tunisia in an attempt to trap German and Italian Armies retreating from the British offensive in eastern North Africa. For the first time in the war, the U.S. 1st Infantry Division battles German and Italian forces. This will be a true test of combat for the inexperienced American G.I.

Objectives[ | ]

Allies[ | ]

Following landings in Algeria and French Morocco, Allied forces advance east into Tunisia in an effort to trap Axis forces retreating from Libya. Few of your troops have seen combat before, except for a handful of officers with experience from World War I, a war far removed from the modern mechanized warfare of today. In contrast, German and Italian troops have seen combat. They will not roll over, and first blood will be spilled over the barren hills, rocky heights, and open valleys of Tunisia.

Axis[ | ]

Following landings in Algeria and French Morocco, Allied forces advance east into Tunisia in an effort to trap Axis forces retreating from Egypt and Libya. Germany and Italy rush fresh troops into Tunisia to meet this threat; however, supply lines from Italy, across the Mediterranean are tenuous due to increasing Allied air and naval superiority. Your forces are under orders to expel the Allied threat in Africa, and worst-case give no ground. The gateway to Europe must be protected.
