Spotting mechanics in Close Combat: The Bloody First depend primarily on the range and the kind of action taken by the units being spotted.

- 30m spotting range has multiplier 0, so -8 * 0 = 0 per 16m (i.e. no range penalty 0-30m)
- 100m spotting range has multiplier 1, so penalty of -8 per 16m.
- 200m range as multiplier 2, so penalty -16 per 16m.
- Beyond 200m has multiplier 4, so penalty -32 per 16m of total range.
